Quick Escape: DARANAK falls

If you need a quick escape from Manila go to Daranak falls in Brgy. Sampaloc, Tanay Rizal. It's about 2.5 hours away from Edsa- Shaw. I was not able to sleep that night because I am too afraid of not waking up on time to prepare for this trip. :) Left the house at around 6:30 am from Vito Cruz we rode a taxi going to Starmall. From Starmall you look for the terminal and ask the barkers for the van going to Tanay Market. Fare is Php70.00. Waiting time depends on how fast the van will be filled in.

From Tanay Market you can ride a trycle going to Daranak. Despite the rain, we only paid Php350.00 for our trycle (but some drivers charge more than Php350.00)and to think it is back and forth from the market to Calinawan cave to Daranak and back to the market. Look for Noel Abejero. This guy is very nice and accommodating.. :) too bad he doesnt have a cellphone number.

We first went to Calinawan Cave (I have a different post for Calinawan). After touring the cave we went to Danarak Falls..... weeeeeeee!!! :)

On our way to Daranak falls. We have to walk since the trycle will have a hard time going down.

One thing I noticed is that the manong only wrote Php 95.00 for the entrance and shed instead of Php195 and when I asked him about it he didnt say anything and I just asked to add the 100 but he wrote it at the back of the receipt..

We are so thrilled especially when we saw the bridge.. :) We knew for sure that it is going to be fun!!
That's our shed!! (in the middle)

They also have a grilling area for those who want to cook some BBQ and fish. Just bring your own "uling".

It took us about 10 minutes to get to Batlag falls then headed back to Daranak after a while. (Will post details on next entry)
We were famished and ate our late lunch...
Bought the banana leaf at Tanay Market for only Php5.00 and Pancit Php15.00 per order. :)
We had adobo, tinapa, daing na bangus, salted egg with tomatoes, hotdog and bacon. So busog!!! :)

There are lifeguards all over the place. The water was very cold. People were nice.. :) The restrooms were clean (Just pay Php5.00 for every use). It is maintained by the city government. I was not able to take pictures of the restroom since it was raining just before we left.

If I need a quick escape I'll pack my bag and go straight to Daranak.
